admin's blog

We've updated this site a little about our relationship with Infocycle. They specialise in project management and related services mainly for government but we've worked with them in corporates in the past.

Well, we've had a busy couple of weeks trying to get sites live once and for all.

Gift Bod, things local, Instant Advice and QipBox have all gone live in the last two weeks.

With the exception of QipBox, they are all projects we've been working on in between other projects but we've knuckled down and got them live once and for all.

I've updated a few sections and added a few of the sites we've been working on over the last few months.

Used Car Trader and a few dating sites we used to run have now been split off into another company. We wish them and their owners all the best for the future. A lot of time and effort went into those sites and they deserve success.

All of the old crew are still at IA towers and we're taking a fresh look at what we're doing or perhaps more importantly, what we're NOT doing.

I was on a jolly with a few fairly bright but non-technical chaps recently and they were outraged that Google can ban sites, penalise sites and so on. Their view was that Google is now so powerful that they need regulating and should be far more transparent.

I think they have a point. We run sites that are well put together, fast, easy to use, etc, etc but some rank well, some don't. We are 90% certain that one site in particular has some sort of a penalty on it but there's nothing in Google Webmaster Tools, no email and of course, no communcation with Google.

It's that time of year where everyone is off... except Matt, Myles and I - the others are sunning themselves in Florida or Nottingham or somewhere.

What it does show is how busy we are with so many projects. Because we operate from different places, it's not always obvious how much "stuff" we have going on but now I'm covering for a couple of people it makes you realise.

I must admit, it's nice talking to customers again - I still get a buzz when we solve their problems or are able to offer good advice that they're grateful for.

The old Inter Advertising website was a constant embarrassment to us. This one is hardly a masterpiece but I'm not quite so ashamed of it.

It's a case of the builders own house always being part finished - we're always so busy building sites and applications for others that we never get chance to do our own.

I'll try to blog once a week with the goings on at IA Towers but don't fall off your chair if there's a few gaps...
