Gift Bod

Gift Bod went live on November 7th 2007.

At this moment there's still a bit of work to do (as ever!) but it's half way there. The basic idea is that it's a gift list for kids parties, Christmas, etc but unlike the others (that we're aware of), it isn't tied to one store. The site carrys product feeds from all the major toy shops that sell online.

We're hoping that because it's useful, or at least our wives think so, that the marketing will be quite virtal. So if there's 20 kids a party and the Gift Bod number is on the invite then that's 20 parents that are aware of it, they then use it and it goes to another 20 parents and so on.

We're looking at marketing ideas now and we're trying to be a bit creative about it. We'll get some SEO traffic but it's a brand new domain so we'll only get (very) long tail stuff.

The marketing of this type of site is new to us because it's about marketing a new(ish) concept rather than a particular product or site.
