What do we do again?

We seem to have quite a few user visiting this site now that Crawl Score is live and I guess it's not that clear what we do.

I think perhaps the easiest way to put it is "a lot"!

There's no doubt about it, we do have fingers in a lot of pies but that's one of the reasons we're doing this (IE not working for a corporate) - we like looking at different ideas, trying new technology and putting a new spin on existing technology.

We don't have the time to quite finish things off and we're bad at PR type marketing - SEO, no problem but when it's a new idea it takes more than SEO sometimes.

Whilst I'm babbling I'll mention that Crawl Score went live as a commercial product this week which is exciting. We've had some feedback that it's quite expensive which is a bit of a shock as we thought it was cheap! It's taken a huge amount of time and resources to build Crawl Score and if we made it cheap, with lots of users we'd need to spend all the revenue on bandwidth and crawlers.

Perhaps we have got the pricing model wrong or perhaps it will appear better value as the product is developed - chicken and egg I guess. Time will tell.

We've started to actively market Gift Bod as well so I've been spending time trying to buy advertising from people. I gotta say the lack of replies is amazing - do these people want to make money?

Whilst looking where to advertise I've also realised how under-served the mums market is in terms of community. What's out there is either home-made or overly commercial. There's space for a proper mums social networking site, that's for sure but for once, we won't dabble.... for now at least!
