thingslocal
thingslocal went live in November 2007 in beta form.
It's a niche "startpage" platform for things that are local (the name kinda gives that away...).
We're launching it for Derby initially but once we've got a few basics sorted out (IE the look, more help files, bizarre IE7 issues, etc) then we plan to roll out to 25 other major cities across the UK.
One thing it might really help with is interesting or quirky little sites getting more exposure. Newspaper sites are, quite rightly, about their own content and stories but there are some great little sites out there that might just get a chance to be seen by a wider audience on a site like thingslocal.
We're a little concerned that it may look a bit complex to people at first but hopefully regular internet users will have no problems with it.
