Used Car Trader

We have long felt that there is a gap in the UK motors market for a free to advertise, easy to use motors website.

The first version of Used Car Trader went live in July 2005 and very quickly became one of the top 20 motors classifieds websites in the UK.

In all honesty, the site was built with SEO in mind so wasn't the prettiest website around but it worked well, was very fast and we learned a lot about large websites - the site had over 200,000 pages and was obviously dynamic. To create SEO friendly pages that didn't appear to be templated was a challenge but we managed it...

The new version went live (and is still under development) in Spring 2007. The site now ranks #3 in the UK for "used cars" on Google and other search engines.

The user experience is much improved and we have a dedicated team developing the platform full time.

There are many exciting features in the pipeline but the aim at present is to get a good balance between SEO and the user experience. It's not that we feel one should suffer for the other but the reality is, there's some compromises that need to be made...
